One of the most successful film series in history is The Lord of the Rings. Looking at the ‘The Hobbit’ movie trailer, this film is just about to tread the same path. Like its predecessor, the film appears to be filled with so much suspense.
The Hobbit is being filmed in New Zealand and directed by the renowned expert, Peter Jackson.
What the Movie is About
The story is about the quest to repossess the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the dreadful dragon Smaug. The wizard Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen) appeared out of nowhere and invited Bilbo on an adventure. The home-loving hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) was persuaded to join the company of 13 other dwarves led by the great warrior, Thorin Oakshield (Richard Armitage). And they began a journey through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers, etc
Flashes from the Trailer
‘The Hobbit’ trailer began with the old hobbit Bilbo (Ian Holm) writing a letter to his nephew Frodo – “My dear Frodo, you asked me once if I have told you everything there was to know about my adventures. While I can honestly say I have told you the truth, I may not have told you all of it’.
Next, the young Bilbo surfaced (Martin Freeman) and was approached by Gandalf (Ian McKellan) who invited him on an adventure. Bilbo outrightly rejected the adventure – “I can’t just go running off into the blue, I am a Baggins of Bag-End”.
But, Bilbo had to be persuaded to join the adventure as the expedition burglar. In no time, the wizard arrived with 13 other dwarves to join him in the journey. And together, guided by the wizard Gandalf, they proceeded on the dangerous journey.
Familiar Faces from Lord of the Rings & More
Most of the characters in The Hobbit are the same as the Lord of the Rings. Some of the new stars are Dame Edna (Godblin King) and Evangeline Lilly (beautiful elf Tauriel).
The actors you will be very familiar with (from Lord of the Rings) are Ian McKellen (Gandalf), Cate Blanchett (Galadriel), Ian Holm (old hobbit Bilbo), Christopher Lee (Saruman), Elijah Wood (Frodo), Orlando Bloom (Legolas), Hugo Weaving (Elrond), and Andy Serkis (Gollum).
Unfortunately, we have to wait for an awful 12 months (December 2012) to see the first movie -The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey- and another 12 months (December 2013) see the second film -The Hobbit: There and Back Again.
