BitTorrent Releases Free File Sharing Alternative to Dropbox – Share

BitTorrent Inc. has released a free file sharing alternative to Dropbox called Share. Share is a substitute to paid cloud storage and media sharing via social networks.

It is a lightweight tool that can be used for saving or exchanging files of any size among specific group(s) of users without making the files available to the general Internet audience.

Share makes sharing large files easy, and users do not need to learn how to use BitTorrent software which can be a very daunting task. The BitTorrent free file sharing tool (Share) helps users to save and exchange unlimited sizes of different file types including images, videos, etc.

Aside exchanging and saving files in the cloud, users can also share files through peer-to-peer connection on the condition that a user with the full file is online. Also, you can create groups for sharing files or connect with Facebook to create a group from your friends list.

While Dropbox is particularly respected for syncing files, Share seems to bring greater ease-of-use. A report on GigaOM shows that Share is powered by EC2 and S3 cloud-based storage servers from Amazon, and the service works very fine even though it is still in its alpha stage.

How to Get Started with BitTorrent Share

To start using the free BitTorrent sharing service, you need to install Windows Share Client or the latest version of uTorrent from BitTorrent (for Mac). Then, enter your email address and the recipient’s so that an email can be sent to let the recipient know that a file is waiting for download from you.

Uploading and downloading files are very fast and efficient on the free BitTorrent file sharing app – Share. To begin uploading, all you have to do is drag the file or folder to the app.

Unfortunately, shared files cannot be directly downloaded from the Internet. So, you have to register an account and install Share app or uTorrent client to use Share.
